Björn Zryd has dedicated himself to representational painting, bringing the subjects to life in his very own language. In his visual language, he first uses fine varnishes, then adds seemingly random, expressive lines and spheres. A visual language that is sometimes pensive, sometimes courageous, sometimes unique, and sometimes bold. His works? Almost sketchy, drawing-like. They astound with unconventional, fresh color choices and abstract elements.

Björn Zryd finds inspiration in his surroundings, his village, his valley, or in front of his doorstep. Cows, goats, mountains, traditions, and customs – he often presents them with a mischievous, subtle reference to the present time. Björn Zryd’s “Zeitgenössischen Heimatgeschichten” (“contemporary local stories”), as he calls them, reflect, what people more and more forget: honesty, frugality, and spontaneity. Whoever has seen a Björn-cow once, does not forget it as easily and will keep meeting it again because it is a representation of a worldview.
