Thun’s cultural life is as interesting as diverse. Thun Castle, Schadau Castle, Oberhofen Castle, Hünegg Castle, Spiez Castle - the density of castles around Lake Thun is truly magnificent. Thun also has plenty of museums. The Art Museum Thun, for example, presents mainly con­temporary art in a series of temporary exhibitions. Conversely, the Castle Museum Thun makes the region’s extensive history tangible on five floors. 

 

Those who prefer classical music, theater and comedy will probably find something to their liking at the KKThun. In addition, there are several small cultural institutions in Thun that offer further musical entertainment. And last but not least, Thun’s nightlife is not to be missed. Around the Mühleplatz you will find many different bars and cafes for a perfect late night. Just a stone’s throw away, the Atelier Classic Barserves award-winning cocktails. Nobody has to go home thirsty in Thun.

Winter magic

At the Thun Christmas Market, a variety of events and stalls bring the festive season to life. Even the beautifully decorated Christmas tree on the town hall square adds to the festive atmosphere. The artificial ice rink in the middle of the city at Grabengut invites you to practice your ice-skating skills. As the lake is probably too cold, you can take a warming dip in the nearby indoor pool. Or how about a leisurely cruise on one of the beautiful scheduled boats? Thun is also the ideal place for winter sports, so you can easily combine the adventure of skiing with the comfort of a shopping trip. You are never condemned to inactivity in Thun!
