Instead of a brush, Christoph Flück uses a spatula for his oil paintings. While working, he plays loud music from various genres. This likely helps him capture the primal and dynamic essence of nature on the canvas. The powerful strokes of the spatula, created during this process and sometimes resembling windstorms and crashing waves, are clearly visible in the paintings. Yet his paintings radiate a surprising ease: «I’m usually a pretty calm person», he notes in a measured voice. He used to paint directly outdoors in nature; today, he processes his impressions and feelings later in his studio. Active as a freelance artist since 1989, his body of work encompasses not only painting in oil, watercolour, and acrylic but also land art and interventions.
