Thun with its inhabitants lives by the seasons, therefore every season has its very own assets. Now, in the warmer months, one becomes aware of the Mediterranean flair that radiates from this city in the Bernese Oberland. A big part of it are the Lake Thun and the Aare – where else can you jump right in the middle of the city into the water and comfortably drift by historical buildings? When one spends the summer on one of the many café terraces or comfortably strolls around the Aare, one feels like being in the Mediterranean. This is even more true when it gets late, and the city lights up in the enchanting evening sun. In contrast to some southern vacation destinations, Thun is not overrun by tourists, and one always finds a beautiful place to stay. Especially attractive for shopping-lovers are the various markets which offer a rich palette of regional products and celebrate the connection of the city with the surrounding landscape. In general, Thun satisfies every shopping desire. Everything is close by, and therefore, one can comfortably stroll down the streets and do extensive window-shopping.
