The new edition picks up on the timeless design of the original.

The Sigma 7 mission in 1962 with astronaut Walter Schirra marked a milestone in watch history: it was the first time an OMEGA Speedmaster had been in space. During the nine-hour flight, during which Schirra orbited the earth six times, the foundation stone was laid for the Speedmaster's later significance in space travel.

The successful mission was followed by official certification by NASA, which approved the watch for all future manned space missions, thus cementing OMEGA's outstanding position in the history of space travel.

More than 60 years after Schirra's legendary mission, OMEGA is honouring his legacy with a new edition of the Speedmaster. The timeless design of the original CK-2998 model has been given a modern interpretation for the Speedmaster anniversary series. They are characterised by the distinctive ‘Dot Over Ninety’, the OMEGA Vintage logo and a new sapphire crystal that echoes the classic domed shape. The hand-wound movement with co-axial escapement gives the Speedmaster its Master Chronometer certification. Discover your favourite model of the first OMEGA in space at Bläuer.
